well you can install win98 on winxp using somthin like vmware.
What really sucks with this byebye 9x thing is: Microsoft really tries to force people to buy XP. They just RELEASED the ultimative online vulnerability of win9x, something that cannot be fixed on thw win api layer. They just invited malware coders to use it, knowing this will bring them several hundred million $ immediately from people who will upgrade to XP.
Personally I'd say: this is the best moment to get rid of windows. At least for web access. You surely have an old machine somewhere that could be used as a linux based firewall, or as a linux web terminal. Then later you maybe gonna replace all windows machines - not only because you have found the right tools for linux, but also because it's one of the few things in this world you can do in the sense of "rage against the machine".
The sooner or later the world will be divided into soulless windows zombies and any-other-os heroic fighters.
