... if I may ...
I won't comment on the gfx here.. I'm not into 3D.. can't judge it. The only 3D I've ever done in my life is raytracing @ Povray, and then mainly those classic raytrace images with shiny spheres on checkerboards, or only very basic untextured architecture.. not exactly comparible. ^_^
The comment I have is actually on the 'do suggestions in private' as opposed to 'do suggestions on a public forum'. It's a major advantage if you can do it on a public forum because you simply get way more feedback that way. Because the word of one can be a trigger for someone else. So instead of 10 ppl giving feedback in private, you can get into the situation that 10 ppl give feedback in public, and because of that another 10 will do the same in addition.. more feedback = better.
I found it quite interesting, at my study back then, that each tune someone made was discussed by the whole group.. the advantage of that was that you got comments on a classical piece from ppl who were into rock, dance, classical, pop, cabaret etc. etc. The comments you'd get were so varied it was really interesting to hear and learn from. Likewise it was even possible to take your piece to multiple teachers and get different comments again.. some teachers were specialised in classic music, others in 20th century music, others in filmmusic, others in modern/dance/art/experimental/electronics etc. And while the latter might give totally different feedback than the classic one, even if you gained only 1 idea from it, then it was worth the efforts of asking.
And yes, some of the students/teachers came with feedback that appeared to be stupid/irrelevant/annoying.. and that was *in* class, at the front! Until some years later.. the feedback appeared to be right. I got some of those 'stupid' suggestions as well, in the first year(s).. however, at the end of the 4 years I was at the top of the whole group.. so.. to say that all that feedback I got was bad .. I don't think so..
yertari (and pleeeeease try to inteprete this a bit possitively... yes I know you prolly think that everything I say to you is meant negative... such a pity it is btw..)
If Noel has comments on your 3D then (imho) you could've replied with the following:
(1) "ok tnx, but this is what you get for the price, more detail/quality = more bucks"
(2) "dunno ... this is my style, and I like it, I think I'll leave it the way it is.. but tnx anyway"
(3) "hmm.. interesting, can you give me more info/details/feedback, perhaps I can fix something.. I can't guarantee anything tho.. :)"
That's a completely different way to interact with ppl who give feedback to you than saying "WHAT? Why do you need to be so negative? Why do ppl always put things down? I'm so annoyed now! I'm not going to reply to you anymore! I *know* how it works, because I have these and those contracts!"..
I mean, don't you see the difference between those kind of answers?
What's even better, if all feedback-communication is done public, then OTHER 3d-persons might learn something from it too. So rather than going private I strongly recommend to keep using the forums to showcase things and receive feedback.. (even if it's feedback you don't want to hear!)
