I just onlined a film with a company, and while they output to DigiBeta etc, they've given me an uncompressed AVI (5 times bigger than a DV-PAL file). But it won't play in any of my players, and AviCodec says codec not recognised. It was outputted from Avid DS Nitris on 'uncompressed' setting. Is there any way to get my machine to recognise it?
Uncompressed video
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Uncompressed video Hi
This may be useful:
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/GSpot.htm
And if you miss the codec, the same page may offer a solution as well, just stay away from "codec-packs", better install them manually, one by one.

Cool! Thanks, will see if that works.
if that's no help, see if it will import into Windows Movie Maker, then output a wmv... it'll be a lot smaller...

Mediacoder available at http://mediacoder.sourceforge.net/ is coming along nicely. A bit clunky (still an early version) but updates are coming through quite rapidly and it's already a great transcoder (just don't ask it to resize a video stream).
I use it to compress monkey's audio files to 48Kbps eAAC+ (for my mobile phone). Video transcoding is a bonus.

The idea is to keep it uncompressed :) it's not for internet or anything but as a master for laying off to DigiBeta.
