Mark's got to get a BlitzMax Xbox 360 SDK together ... it's gotta happen! Do it ... DO IT!

/me hands out the chill-pills.

heh, it would be great. Seriously- since Max is my preferred language- but its no use to me yet- I need a 3D module- It'll take too much time for me to create my own mediocre one :P

Pretty neat though.

Torque is already there of course ... However as much as I enjoy that engine for certain games ... being able to use something as freeform as Blitz would be nice.

Yeah. My problem with torque is the extra work- it feels clumsy. I like it- I really do, and I'll work in it- (Once i get good enough)... But until I know the quirks it'll feel like im progamming with a BBC again :P

Seriously, haha, The first script i created, put "WAHEY!" on the screen, and that was it.

Max3D? sphere=createsphere() or whatnot- and its off.

To different ways of thinking- two ways of programming- so its a total restart. It took me AGES to realise i needed to delete the compiled scripts before I recompiled :P

Hopefully though I'll have torque loading some racer levels in no time. Looks like it could be easy at least.

Torque is really great once you learn the thought process but it is waaay different. It's a tight piece of work in general but it's not like Blitz ... which to me is similar to writing poetry or something. With Torque you usually have to know what you're doing before you do it. I don't know about other people but with Blitz I just sit down and start writing code as I brainstorm. It's seriously like poetry ... very free form.

Shouldn't be too hard to load the racer levels. It'd probably be pretty easy to use the default vehicle datablock but I know you like using ODE ... quite a few people have put ODE into Torque with varying degrees of success. It seems though from one of the more recent ODE additions posted by Akio that Torque will be getting some in house physics solution very soon.

I actually program in blitz to releive stress, So I know what you mean. However, that usually means my code is a peice of turd. An efficient one, but a peice of turd non the less :)

I do like ODE- I've taken a look at the in-house physics and it doesnt look hard at all to set up- I may have to find somewhere in source to add some more gravity though ^.^ No to moon buggies!

If an in-house ODE solution pops along, I'd be jumping for it :D

I don't think it's legal to sell a dev enviroment for the xbox360, I think you need to buy a pricy license from ms first, no?

Tho, there is a linux distribution for the Xbox (classic) that works with BMax, so there must be a way, at least for the old Xbox.

You can sell a dev tool for it ... of course you'd have to acquire a license and a dev kit from MS first ... but you have to buy a Torque 360 SDK license if you want to use that.
