I'm in the US, the cooper non Supercharged is just under $19,000 this year. Was about $16,000 last year for the base model!!
BTW I think the smart is a great about town car for in the city, but would be pretty scary around here once you got out on the freeway. A lot of passenger vehicles way over 4500lbs and are still quite quick. Things are changing slowly, having said that big trucks and SUV's outsold cars again last month and fuel prices almost halved since 2 months ago.
