The reasons why PC gaming won't come back:
#1 Copy protection. Which very often renders your computer useless or leaves it with some corporate spyware.
#2 Costs. Of course your fancy 2000 Euro Alienware game rig has better graphics than my Xbox 360. At almost ten times the cost. Or, in other words, for the additional money I could have bought thirty to fourty games for my Xbox. That beats the crap out of your gaming PC market.
There are only two game niches back for which you need a PC: Point and click adventures and Civilization-style strategy games. Neither genre requires the high end PC games like Crysis require. Even a netbook is almost good enough for that type of game.
No, PC gaming is not coming back. And in all honesty, an entire software industry doesn't want it to come back either.
