I think the current smart model is not the last word of that innovation yet. It still has some problems to make such small cars (although the interior is huge, I can put my whole arms straight forward, and it's not touching the windshield yet). It has also some fun factors, someone said once that the smart car is like a go-kart, and I like that comparison. It's really like a go-kart, it's a damn fun car to drive, but not a real car for long distances and high speeds. At over 120km/h it's not fun anymore, it's too stressy to drive then. Besides smart cars should be cabriolets always, and there also the wind speed at over 80km/h is not so comfortable anymore.
I think my next car will be a smart roadster, if they still decide to make them, or a BMW Z3 (I like the old model better). The roadster has a much smaller sidewind profile, and looks damn cool, as cabriolet of course.
