Optional ajax implimentation for automatic updates? ...not.
Seriously though, PM's would be *thinking of a street word for awesome* ....hip?
So many simple comments toward a single person have to be made publicly, and just result in spam. Want to keep things on topic, and efficient? Add pm's so every 3rd post isn't off-topic. Hell, you could add a 'fair' forum rule not to 'chat' with other users in a topic.
And yeah, not having page numbers for post counts is ridiculous. It would take a quick edit on the queries used, and extremely little work (1-2 minutes?) to add in the page number links to the source. The forum is used quite a bit, but I highly doubt adding that feature would kill performance, especially compared to having 3,000 extra topics only due to continuing a previous topic.
