Only in the snow, I witnessed a rear wheel drive one crabbing sideways up a hill towards the gutter instead of ploughing up it - I suppose its coz they're so light and not really designed for ice & snow.
To be fair it did eventually get some traction and made it up - unlike the stranded Ford Ka it was passing,albeit somewhat sideways.
