Microsoft always talks about "counterfeit" copies of Windows. Is this because there really is a counterfeiting industry out there running parallel to piracy, making knock-offs in the traditional sense, or is this more of the same self-delusion that film studios exhibit when they pretend people actually use video cameras in cinemas?
I can't see why you would make a cleanroom version of Windows when you could just copy it... but all the pirate copies I've seen (I have a licence for my own!) have passed WGA without a problem.
