One suggestion on the screen. Get one with a base you can adjust far up and down, and rotate from wide screen to tall screen. Having a tall screen is really great when working with code or text in general.
Personally I favor using multiple desktops in software (you can do this on Win/OSX/Linux), rather than multiple screens. I had two screen for a while, but kept sitting a bit twisted when working on my secondary screen, so I switched to just using one.
