Ah... my bad. Multipage Bitmap in FreeImage only appears to support loading from files, rather than via Handles for standard images....
FreeImage_OpenMultiBitmap(FREE_IMAGE_FORMAT fif, const char *filename, ...

Not much I can do about that, unfortunately.
