I don't think PC's are going anywhere soon. Consoles aren't upgradeable and each generation gets overtaken by the PC quicker. In only a year PC's had better graphics than console games in the mainstream market. The latest GPU's that hardcore gamers use these days are far more powerfull than PS3 or 360.
Quite often cross platform games have their graphics reduced on PS3 and 360, and on occasion the PC version gets bigger enhanced levels. This is most common on ports from the PC to consoles which does still happen on occasion.
The biggest problem for PC games is that MS want to focus game dev on their console to win the console war and aren't doing much to encourage the development of PC games unless people are willing to buy into their new OS first.
