GP32, GP2X,Wiz and Pandora are fully open to development and have numerous homebrew apps, games and emulators available.
The Pandora is due to be released in late November and sold about 4000 units on pre-order. It will be the most powerful handheld gaming machine ever and incorporates twin analogue controls, D-Pad and gaming buttons, together with a mini QWERTY keyboard. It's already emulating PS1 at more than full speed, unoptimised. Other emus are also running better than on any other handheld - all this before release. Expect great things from this machine.
GP32 and GP2X were not intended to compete with PSP or DS, but they have found a nice, if niche, market. I expect to see Wiz and Pandora sell even more though.
Even if you hadn't heard of them before, you're going to be hearing a lot about them from now on.
