Obviously it's a preference thing, but personally I like the mouse better.
When push comes to shove, that's all that really matters (and why we could argue about whether constrained control is 'better' or not forever without coming to a conclusion). But I doubt anyone could be surprised to find that gaming PCs are too expensive and PC games too 'same old' for even that preference, where it is held, to translate into a healthy market. Regarding "The PC is the new Amiga", what exactly is this supposed to mean? Do you think PC's will suddenly die out simply because less people are playing games on them? If anything, laptops will become more popular, but there's no way Personal Computers are going to "die".
I don't know much about the Amiga, but I assume it was abandoned in favor of the similar but superior PC/Mac systems. In this case (PC vs. Console) it's an entirely different matter - businesses aren't going to abandon PCs and stick XBox360's in their offices and try to do business on those.

Yeah the analogy really has nothing to do with the PC dying out, it's to do with the PC dying out as a mainstream gaming platform.
