The ONLY advantage of the right to bear arms is the ability to fight a civil war due to a bad bad government (for example if an extremist govt got in, cancelled elections, started exterminating people or demanding you get a permission slip to take a s***).
If the nazis, communists, fundamental religious nutters etc. got in to govt in the UK and slowly replaced the army chiefs and police with their own sympathizers who could stop them?
Other than that theres no point in owning guns. If no one has them then you dont need them.
