Strange. I actually tried looking up the facts of the article. It said she's a 4 ft 9 in 10 year old girl who weighs 6 stones (84 pounds).
According to about.com http://usgovinfo.about.com/od/healthcare/a/tallbutfat.htm the average 10 year old girl (in 2002) is 4 ft 8.4 inches and weighs 88 pounds.
I was expecting her to by some 'Wall-E' style 180 pound kid. Not an 'average' kid by government standards. I'm shocked to say this but maybe the family has a point.
