the thing is they through the A-bomb would destroy the world to and we are still here just.
They also thought that the human body would turn to mush (internal organs exploding etc.) if it ever exceeded 60mph ( note the human body will still turn to mush at this speed if stopped by a hard surface e.g. a wall or the old faithful ... the floor.)
