more thinking out loud then anything. instead of arrows above/below the numbers, what about using the left mouse button to increase the number and right to decrease it. that way instead of moving the mouse to the the up or down arrow for each number, you simply hover over the number you want to change and click lmb or rmb.
again just a thinking out loud moment, probably a stupid idea but fwiw.
