John Carmack was just moaning like a lil baby because he cant sell same crap again and again, and therefre, according to him, PC is 'not good'...better sit and make some cool games for it rather than cursing it... its funny to see how big egoism is stored withing this AAA guys..if anything goes outside of their plans, dust in the Sahara will be guilty for that before they maybe just try to realize that its all their lack of original ideas...
You are so far off-base it's not even funny. Look at the date on that interview -- none of this stuff (diversifying into simpler tech platforms and leading with the consoles) is new from id and none of it seems too unreasonable. A WOW-style subscription model really isn't a particularly good fit for the FPS genre, and they really would have to be idiots to move away from the core kinds of games that they're renowned for. They've got all that valuable, established IP and you want them to forget it and do something original?! Amazing.
I don't see any "moaning like a lil baby" in that video, just a level-headed appraisal of the market. Until I had a company that made more than id I'd be taking notes.
