Don't know where you've got that from
A company called AMD. In the first quarter of '08 they posted a net loss of $358 million, in the second quarter of '08 they posted a net loss of $1.189 billion. The losses largely due to ATI (according to AMD). ATI & AMD are both cutting their outlooks for the third-quarter. AMD just announced they might sell some ATI assets, even with the recent firings of management. I do not see how you can think I am wrong? It is doubtful if AMD/ATI will be able to survive if they lose another billion in the third or fourth quarter.Do people want an HD 4850? I am sure the diehard ATI lovers are grabbing it up. But I can't see normal people buying a card when the company may not be around at the beginning of next year to provide updated drivers for the next versions of DX or OpenGL.
I mean who wants Quad Core insanely powerful processors for under $300 anyway?
What good are they when there is increasing OS and software compatibility issues because the chip itself is using an incompatible architecture? AMD, like MS has their fans, but like MS, AMD dropped the ball many years.
