Finally got it and it rocks. How people can rate this as only 8/10 I can't quite comprehend. The quality of the experience is second to none. I suppose the cut-scenes are a bummer for some people but at least the metaphorical philosophical stuff is interesting and they are fully real-time and can be skipped or paused.
The gameplay is really good. I would say Call of Duty 4 is only a bit better in the gun-play department as Metal Gear has essentially the same setup but with the additional button press to go into 1st person mode. The transition from the old school clunky MGS style controls to fully combat ready is really nice. Overall every aspect of the game seems to be a treat, the developers really went above and beyond to make the experience enjoyable. I haven't thought of a way I'd improve the game after 2 hours of play. Guess I'll see how I feel at the end.
