I don't think games cause violent behavior, except in borderline individuals who are easily pushed over the edge. It's more about making people passive and tolerant of all things destructive.
What is it with this idea of good parenting? Do you really think any parent has the power to prevent their child from playing a violent game, when they can just go to an arcade or a friend's house? If it's on the streets, there's going to be one kid who's parents let him do anything, and everyone is going to go to their house to play it.
The only way to protect your children from exposure to things you don't want them to have is to form a village like the FLDS people, and then the government will come in and take your children, or like in Waco they will just kill you. Or in Germany, the government takes home-schooled kids away from their parents.
I don't think this will influence a significant number of people to commit criminal acts. Regardless, is this something you want to have around you?:

Liberals will tell you there is nothing to worry about, there is no cause for this, or that it's all the fault of heterosexual white males in some way shape or form. Conservatives will tell you it is because you don't pray enough to the great joo-joo in the sky, or because you are not supporting the occupation of Iraq. Both these explanations are insane.
