Anybody had experience with this language? - http://www.processing.org

The language appears to be Java'ish and looks fairly straight-forward
There are some nice commands/functions avaialable too - http://www.processing.org/reference/index.html

Speed-wise, I don't know how it stands up
I'm dabbling with the Mobile version at the moment

some of the command names are slightly parculiar:

fill() - sets the fill color (rather than performing a 'fill')
stroke() - turns on the shape border rendering

Example code
PImage bg;
int a;

void setup()
{
  size(200,200);
  frameRate(30);
  // The background image must be the same size as the parameters
  // into the size() method. In this program, the size of "milan_rubbish.jpg"
  // is 200 x 200 pixels.
  bg = loadImage("milan_rubbish.jpg");
}

void draw()
{
  background(bg);

  a = (a + 1)%(width+32);
  stroke(226, 204, 0);
  line(0, a, width, a-26);
  line(0, a-6, width, a-32);
}
