There's a nice world where people work only to benefit others and do not demand payment for themselves
This is NOT a good thing. It has been tried, we call it communism and it failed miserably in some countries and is still failing miserably in others.
If you don't give people something to strive for, they are not going to work hard. They are not going to stand out.
Copyright law is necessary, whether you like it or not, or believe it or not. If you take away the chance to get paid for your work, people will not do the work.
"But there are free and open source projects" you say? Ah, yes, but people are able to work on these free and open source projects because they have jobs that earn money where they are working on other things that ARE protected by copyright law.
