Well, according their advertisement style partly it's a matter of taste and partly it's just not this true. The perfect vendor i would have in mind would deliver great technology i do need and can afford with just a little bit more understatement (the truth is between BRL and UT). I've seen that quite some long year experienced developers also were kind of supicious about Unity because everything just sounds too shiny and there are also examples were their advertisement doesn't fit into the reality like for instance calling the in Unity used physics engine the fastest one. Everyone who has used a more up to date version of Havok should know that it's more feature complete and faster than PhysX. Not that the physics inside Unity are slow or bad (beside of the lack of stuff like soft bodies, concave hull collisions, ...) but it's just a bit too much and when you're reading through the site this can add up quite a bit.
I guess you can compare this to cases which are a lot worse than Unity but you can also find cases were things are more discreet advertised. I do not come from these $100 one man show products, i'm more from the Adobe tool direction and so i might see it in a different light.
