Hey, maybe you're right (I'm open to being wrong)... but I was a tad confused by your examples there, especially the C64 ones. I get the point about asset creation outside of Unity, but when much of the website is dedicated to their level editor, terrain sculptor/painter, shader writer (etc) you know people are going to purchase with the intention of putting those to good use. Heck, why not get your monies worth? I know I would. Thus, you'll find many, many games built in Unity which share certain similarites.
Also, while games don't have to be unique, certain development environments tend to breed certain types of games, because they attract (and are developed for) certain types of developers. As a few of the guys have mentioned above- if you want total control, Unity isn't the best platform, even though someone like yourself (who seems to have focused more on effect creation than games creation) has already declared it, "so much more powerful" than Blitz3D.
At the end of the day, just use whatever allows you to create what you have in mind. There's no 'more or less powerful', only more or less features.
