it really depends on who's watching or whether they care. The game dev I once worked for got offered a contract by EA to make a small series of java based classic arcade game clones for about $250k.
In the end my boss declined because there was the signs of some copyright issues in the air. Not asteroids but a couple of other games. One of them being frogger.
