It would be cool to develop my stuff for the mac as well. This way I can finally afford one. I think that apple may very well have have a possible case against the supplier for actually installing the software on these, as it does stipulate it as a violation of the EULA.'
However there it appears there is nothing they can so about selling it uninstalled with the box.
A small very limited simple webpage viewer / downloader built into the OS just for this purpouse would be enough a software channel system like synaptic in debian (which is actually quicker and more convenient than using websites), as this would be an admin tool and has every right to be there. However a fully featured, industry standard web browser(ie), chat client(wm) and email program(oe) is not.

Sure its a slight inconvenience to the consumer who want everything on a silver plate but at least it gives other developers a chance and joe consumer is given more choice they otherwise wouldnt know about.

How do you download Firefox without any internet software?
How does the software update or activate without any internet software? The ability to fetch via TCPIP is part of any operating system, it doesnt need a browser to do it. OS needs internet software out of the box. It doesn't have to be extraordinarily good
