What treeview example? If it is the CreateTreeView example then it has changed in the latest MaxGUI.

If so, I am guessing you will have to provide a fully qualified directory path rather than a windows shortcut.
In addition, if you're using the latest MaxGUI you will need to add a TreeViewRoot statement :
