I use both MS Office and OpenOffice. OpenOffice has come along way in the last few years and the compatibility with MS Office is very good. However, as an IT Manager, I can tell you that the value you get for MS Office in a business setting is very high. And let's face it, its pretty ubiquitous.

I would only recommend OpenOffice for a startup company with no money.
