I am very new to BlitzMax. I knew nothing about SVN or even using MingW before buying BlitzMax. I bought BlitzMax and MaxGUI and within an hour of purchase read the tutorials on SVN and MingW, installed and set them up, and updated everything via SVN, recompiled all the mods and I have not had any trouble.
It was really simple to do. Now that it is set up, it will be very simple to keep it updated. I guess I don't understand the trepidation?

I would rather have a simple menu option in the IDE to perform the updates
In the latest IDE, there is a simple option to perform SVN updates. I don't use it as I prefer command line, but it is there.
