Blu-Ray players cannot read DVD's. That is why I was hoping the HD-DVD would win the battle. HD-DVD players CAN (or should i say, could) read DVD's.
Taskmaster, that is total misinformation, please check your facts.
Reprise #1 The First Blu Ray Player released supported DVD & Blu Ray
Reprise #2 (Blu Ray Player that plays DVDs)
Reprise #3 (List of Blu Ray Players that are also DVD players)
Reprise #4 PC Blu Ray Player (PC) one of many that support DVD as well Blu Ray
Also the PS3 plays DVD's fine just like the Xbox 360.
Ross, I don't think many software companies current feel that Dual Layer DVD (Capacity 8.6GB) is currently really a limiting factor. Blu Ray's main asset to software developers is that Blu Ray acts as some copy proection, the downside is the high cost of Blu Ray disk production vs DVD.
