No, I know a lot of people who automatically serialize stuff, so they don't actually have a defined file format...it just changes every time they change the code.
I do that. What's wrong with it? It means I can go back and change things at a really low level without having to change any code in my load and save functions. I'd hate to have to go and manually change the format every time I realized I needed to have some new data.
