In my opinion World of Warcraft is far worse than any advertisements or reality tie ins. The whole game is designed to make you run really far from place to place to waste time so you have to spend another $15 next month. The game has no actual value and is more commercial product than game anyway. Perhaps they just have a prettier disguise.
My whole theory is based on the assumption that gamers like to play, not that they just hate everything else so much that they avoid reality. From my "Going political" post:
The gamble of course is that perhaps gamers are truly apathetic creatures. Maybe it's not, that they like playing games so much ... maybe it's just that they hate doing all the real stuff. If that's the case then Full Contact Debate is doomed to failure.
So what you guys are telling me is that you play games because you're apathetic?
