in the game achieving the sponsorship would lead you to greater victory
These kind of game descriptions are making me want to play games LESS. I play games to escape from reality, not to be reminded of it with cheesy adverts. Depending upon the game, a discrete advertisement or two or an advertisement splash screen or banner, maybe..
.. but at the end of the day, what is the point of an advertisement? To get normal people to buy stuff. And normal people have a choice, to buy or to play. Companies could shoot themselves in the foot and lose a lot of players if they implement these advertisements inappriopriately.
If I had to choose between two new games, one with adverts and one without, and neither otherwise had a noticable advantage, I'd go with the latter.
