Why piracy and sales are both dead ...

The car game sponsorship has been done to death and isn't the kind of game that I was considering.

I wouldn't be at all surprised though, if games have commercials just like TV if things go the same way as Jeremy describes.

Where Each time you finish a level, sub level, load up the game, load a saved game etc, you get to watch the equivalent of a TV commercial. If it became successful you might even have regular pauses in your game.

I value my privacy and find any kind of advertising targeted or otherwise quite offensive. Just look at magazines 80% ads 20% content. Most of us probably just go online to get a higher % of content. Here in the US I get soliciting at my front door, telemarketing calls many times a day, a big heap of junk mail every day (equivalent of The Times newspaper). Ad's on the TV every 8 minutes.

I have a mobile phone but only one person has the number, and thats my wife. I guess a lot of people must like it, otherwise I wouldn't see everyones TV on when I walk the dogs past their house at night.

I do think there is a place for adverts where you expect to see them, it really depends on the genre. But if you like fantasy RPG's and find Dodge Ram trucks, and the latest movie playing in theaters, even if its related to the game in some way, I'd be a bit miffed.
