Im with you cygnus, my mum is quite happy with it and she doesnt know an icon from a cursor. I do all her admin via sshd/vnc (erm, which ive never actually had to use much, except to install something when she asks is there software for...)
The reason the support is so expensive is simply because it is at the moment so specialised whereas windows technicians are 2 a penny (its the same with anything else)
I think its wrong that dell charge more though thats stupid (unless it includes 24/7 support i suppose). A linux install takes less time than windows if you know what you are doing, apps and all. Especially if you use an image.
