Your argument is fallacious and obviously ignorant of the terms "intellectual property" and "copyright".

Try this on: You are a professional photographer who makes a living taking beautiful, difficult, photos and selling them to people who want or need beautiful, difficult, photos. You take them to have them developed and the developer makes copies of all of them because he admires them so much that he must have them. They are just pictures to him and they have no tangible value.

Would you consider his actions stealing? What if they showed up on a website for anyone to download due to the thief's actions. Suddenly your ability to earn a livelihood is undercut.

Taking something that does not belong to you,without permission, is theft. It does not matter if it is an idea, manuscript, digital download etc ... If you are taking something without paying for it you are stealing. Any argument contrary to this is wrong headed, regardless of the your abilities at doublespeak or moral rationalization.

You represent the reasons many people steal quite well, and eloquently. You are still WRONG.

@Hambone.
Yes I would consider it stealing.

I STRONGLY suggest you read my 2 posts again more c-a-r-e-f-u-l-l-y. Where did i say that actually exploiting someones copyright is the right thing to do? Please tell me that?
Please explain to me exactly why you think i take the piss out of copyright so much?

You will find you cant because i dont.

I did however say that you cannot compare stealing software to stealing a car which is absolutely true as its a totally different type of crime and is intellectual property not actual physical property. (unless you have some kind of startrek car-replicator). Its like trying to compare murder to stealing (as you are "stealing" someones life) Mabe you think they should implement the old medieval - one punishment for any crime rule.
