ashmantle: The price on my site and BFG is $19.95 UNLESS you have a BFG game club membership when it can be as low as $6.95. If you go via my site, it will simply use an affiliate link (and I'll get a small % bonus) but you can still use your game club membership (if you have it) to get it for the lower price). Does that make sense? I'm glad you feel like buying it, thanks! :-)
Let's say however that Fairway Solitaire is sold in retail boxes and they buy a valid second hand boxed copy, then that's OK (even though I see no money) as they are not supporting the piracy angle. For example, if a friend who didn't know about pirating saw the game (and box) they might look to buy a copy for themselves rather than finding out about warez (not everyone knows about warez sites you see, or knows how to use them...but if encouraged, they might find out about it). Selling a digital copy (or key) is much more dodgy in my opinion (some people try to do it with Blitz).
What though if the friend BORROWED the game and installed it on their PC? As there is no online element, they could use the same key and then that is basically piracy, but it's akin to borrowing a book or CD or DVD right? (oh except a copy on their PC gets made, so it's a bit different) I guess the idea is that it's smallscale, one or two friends may borrow something, but you are not filesharing it for thousands to download...
hmm, interesting...
Freeway Solitaire
You always call it that. Obsessed by cars ;-) So you are saying that some sites are selling pirate copies of games for low prices? If so I certainly think that is worse than pirating for free as they are then turning theft/unauthorised copying (whatever you want to call it) into a illegitimate business! Actually if a free warez site plasters the site in adverts, they too are making money from piracy.Let's say however that Fairway Solitaire is sold in retail boxes and they buy a valid second hand boxed copy, then that's OK (even though I see no money) as they are not supporting the piracy angle.
