on the 'lost' dvd's and by lost i dont mean the show
ive been trying to find someone selling frtiz langs metropolis at a price that isnt £20
an 80ish year old film £20 last summers blockbuster 5 for £30
art films have always been deemed niche markets and 'deserving' of a higher price tag to off set their limited saleability
its a catch 22
i want to watch certain films because ive heard they are good
i'm not paying too much for a film i may only see once and isnt available to rent
some of these films no one i know has heard of let alone might have it to let me borrow it
but if they lowered the price more and more people would take a chance on art/indi films
and on CD's
i spent nearly £100 in fopp cos they do alot of cd's for £5 most were from 97 or there abouts and if hmv or virgin stocked em they would probably be near £10
if i payed £10 would the recording artist get more money than the £5 i bought their CD for?
I doubt it
some have a royalties restructuring policy when cd's get 'bargain bin' priced others dont
so im guessing that only the shop would gain from my purchcase
if a franchise that almost went belly up last year or two ago (fopp) can have its remaining outlets survive and thrive selling cd's and dvd's for £5 on average it makes you wonder about the big guns
