Vista churns the harddrive like a hamster in a wheel when just sitting on the log in screen, and it will do that pretty much all day. So what's it caching there?

Shame though with all this extra memory caching that it actually loads things slightly slower. I guess when system ram gets to about 16GB then Vista will be 'efficient'

Do you really not find that disturbing that a simple process like copying a file could so much slower? For me it takes 1-2 seconds to calculate the time needed to copy files instead of just getting on with it and doing the copy.
