I think it is the other way around. Console specs have already fallen behind high-end PCs.

the xbox and ps3 and all consoles before and to come are fixed systems yet pc's are modular good and bad in both
imagine if you had to change the whole pc instead of a card to get the next best thing ... we'd still be in 640 vga dos
yet buy a ps2 and sell/throw away/donate your psONE no problem ... it plays the same games doesnt it (ok not true for ps3 and some clasic xbox titles)
but if the (clasic) xbox cost as much as the parts alone i dont think it would have sold ... i mean i got mine for £100 ffs (ok it was alot more at first nearly £500?)
