Fairway runs on my 800MHz Mac flawlessly and would probably run fine on a slower one, so the min CPU specs may be able to be reduced (but not the RAM specs).
I'd tend to agree with the PC and Mac shareware sales quote. Also if a company wants to release a quick cheap game it's unlikely they'll go to the trouble of making a Mac version, so probably companies that make Mac games are making slightly better games anyway ... maybe...
