XP products (Msoft ones at any rate) seem incompatible with VISTA. I have not been stupid enuf to venture into VISTA ( read Very Insane Serioulsy Tapped & Arseholed) yet, and it is not going to happen.
Do not get me wrong MSoft have provided a lot of stable products that I support, VB6 (not so sure about VB.net - had deploy issues with this but I work for a living), the XP Home OS (apart from crippling the networking side of the XP Home OS to 'encourage' you to upgrade).
The next computer I buy (granted it will be in 3 to 4 years time) will have a LINUX OS as its primary OS. If it cannot encapsulate MSAFT I'll deal with it then.
What do you think ?
