Because it takes skill in MOHAA, Call of Duty to get a head shot with a sniper and I simply feel cool when I've dropped someone. Obviously when they quit the game they will still be alive and go on about their business but they will do this knowing they got pawned.
Well I can understand that. But the question really was about the brutal slaughtering in Manhunt 2, not COD2/etc. Personally I think there's quite a difference between shooting someone, and tearing and hacking at someone with sharp objects until they bleed to death in agony.
