I don't think it's anything to do with anti-microsoft. I think it's simply the want for an upgraded operating system that doesn't effectively downgrade and existing system.
The thing is, dx10 cards run a bit faster on vista than they do on xp. IF you upgrade the whole shebang, you are looking at improved computing from every angle.
