I would have reccomended the LG. I don't know anything about the HP, but the LG was the best among the Samsungs and westinghouse and acers and whatever else they had locally. Primary reason I liked it was the wide viewing angles. Few others came close to matching it. The other reasons were more accurate colors, and deeper blacks (though no LCD has really great black levels). Good refresh time too, though the Samsung had it beat there.
