All the hardware mentioned here should be plenty and then some!! If people are getting slow performance with this stuff then there must be a problem with vista / vista configuration.
A new version of an OS is supposed to wipe the floor with the previous version, not rival it, especially on the specs posted above!
Vista is *supposed* to run on 800 Mhz!! - yeah alrighty then. (1.6Ghz is supposed to be its comfort level)
LOL!, I think the sticker on my brand new 2.xx Ghz Centrino Duo, 2Gb, SATA, ATI X2300 HD should be "Vista barely-capable" not "Designed for Vista".

Microsoft finally released its minimum specs for running Windows Vista. As you'd expect, "minimum" really is minimal:
Q. What is required to run Windows Vista?
A. If you purchased a PC in the last two years, chances are good that you can run Windows Vista today. To install and run the core functionality of Windows Vista, you need:
• An 800 MHz processor.
• 512 MB of RAM.
• A 20 GB hard drive with 15 GB of free space.
Advanced features, like the new user experience Windows Aero, require advanced or additional hardware.
Typically, Microsoft is lowballing these numbers. Want to run Vista comfortably? Double what you see above: a 1.6-GHz processor, a gigabyte of RAM, a 40-GB hard drive.
