"Explains why Hull got no sympathy then, what with it being 1, and not doing 2 (filling in the drainage ditches for example) "
No just that the film crews were hanging aroud Rotherham waiting for a reservoir to bust its banks, so that they could report more death and destruction. Filling drainage ditcthes would cause more flooding, they are there to get water off the land into the rivers but if a river is full then there's nowhere for it to go.
And then we have Toll Bar near Doncaster if the rumors are true ( and I think they are ) was sacrificed to save the town. A tributary which flows into the river Don had its flood defence's deliberately breeched, if the rumor is true.
"We mess up nature, it soaks us ALOT, sounds fair to me."
True we mess up nature by trying to control it, we just have to look at coastal erosion for an example.
"Soaks us ALOT" well thats been true ever since the first people lived in the British Isles, thats why they came here.
Wet stuff from the sky makes thing's grow and where there's greenary there's food to be found.
